Land levelling for yards, lawns and building

Land levelling in Chișinău and its suburbs: we strip the top layer, move soil from the humps into the hollows, terrace a sloping plot and leave the yard ready for lawn, paving or a house. We use a backhoe loader on large areas and work by hand next to the house. The price is per square metre.

What we do

Level the ground before the lawn, the paving or the building go in; otherwise they have to be redone later.

  • Stripping

We take off the top layer, grass and roots, before building. Good topsoil can be set aside for the lawn.

  • Levelling

We cut the humps and fill the hollows, with a fall so water runs away from the house.

  • Sloping plots

We make steps or terraces so the slope can be built on, planted and walked.

  • For lawn

We leave finely raked soil with no stones or roots, ready for sowing or for turf.

What fall we leave

A perfectly flat yard holds water, so we always leave a slight fall, even under paving.

  • Away from the house

The ground falls slightly from the house to the fence or the ditch, and rainwater runs off on its own instead of towards the foundation. Usually 1-2 cm per metre is enough, a fall the eye hardly sees.

  • Under a lawn

A lawn needs fine soil and not a single puddle. If the top is heavy clay, a layer of topsoil is worth adding, or the grass yellows in the heat and soaks after rain.

  • Spare soil

Whatever is left we load and take away: see soil removal. If a house is coming, do not send it all away at once: the soil is useful for backfilling the foundation.

How we level

Three steps, from measuring to finished ground. It is best to start once the ground has dried: on wet clay a machine only churns it up.

  1. We measure

With a level we see the differences in height and decide with you which way the water has to go. Pegs mark the high and low points.

  2. We move the soil

A backhoe loader or a Bobcat skid steer cuts the humps and fills the hollows, then we compact so the fill does not sink after rain.

  3. We finish

We rake by hand, pick out the stones and roots and hand the ground over ready.

Common questions

Can't find the answer? Ask us in the request form or on Viber, WhatsApp or Telegram.

How much does land levelling cost per square metre?

Levelling is priced per square metre. It costs more where the differences in level are big, where soil has to be brought in or taken away, or where the plot slopes. A small yard by the house where a machine cannot turn is levelled by hand, and there a metre costs more. A large area can also be priced by the machine hour, which sometimes works out cheaper.

Do you bring in soil for filling?

We use the soil from your own plot first: what we cut from the humps goes into the hollows. If that is not enough, we tell you how many loads need bringing in, and spare soil goes away by tipper truck. Topsoil for a lawn is brought separately, and we spread it to the depth needed.

Can a sloping plot be levelled?

Yes, with terraces or an embankment; soil cut from the top goes to fill the lower terrace. On a steep slope a retaining wall is sometimes needed, which a builder puts up after we have moved the soil. We price terracing after seeing the plot, because it all depends on the drop and how much soil has to move.
